Houston Traffic 1.0

Friday, May 13th, 2005

Version 1.0 of the original Houston Traffic widget brings new pan and zoom tools, along with saved preferences and an overhauled interface. Flip it over to turn on zooming and panning, then click and drag on the map to focus on your part of town. When you’ve got it how you want it, turn off zooming and panning to lock your settings in place — with panning turned off, you can click anywhere in the widget to position it on your desktop.

Also new are a speedometer-style legend on the back, a more plastic-y frame, and lots of fresh juicy new code underneath.

Houston Traffic Dashboard Widget

Monday, May 2nd, 2005

In the interest of releasing early, and with the intention of releasing often, I present to the world my first Dashboard Widget: Houston Traffic.

This simple widget shows you a color-coded map of greater Houston, indicating the average speed of traffic along major freeways. For the moment, that’s all it does. I’m going for the essence of functionality here. I’m working on things like a resizeable window, close-up views, and more, and I’ll release when I can.
